“A More Modern Design”
Several weeks back Justin Brunner, owner of Bent Metal Customs in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, approached us about revamping their logo. They specialize in restoring and customizing classic cars and trucks and have made a big name for themselves in the greater Philadelphia area. They’re hosting an open house event on June 17th, 2017, and he saw the timing as a good opportunity to rework the BMC branding.
We’ve been working with BMC for about 14 years, now. We design and maintain the website, produce merchandise, and deliver photography for editorial use. So, we were really looking forward to giving his brand some much-needed updating.
Our brief included: “a more modern design.” Justin knows exactly what he wants when he sees it, and luckily, he trusts us enough to deliver something he’ll like. We decided the best approach would be to initially show him five different style options. This would help us narrow down the direction we’d take. After he’d chosen his favorite design, it didn’t take long for us to refine it to exactly what he was envisioning.
We rounded out our project with BMC by producing a list of items:
- two 10’x5′ banners for his shop
- long and short-sleeved t-shirts
- work shirts
- women’s tanks
- promotional flyers for the open house
- business cards
One of our favorite projects for BMC was photographing a 1977 Ford F250 Crew Cab that they built for Kip Fulks, President of Innovation and Footwear at Under Armour. The truck appeared on the cover of Diesel World Magazine, and was seriously fun to photograph – minus having to stand on a ladder to get all the detail shots. I’m accustomed to shooting the lowest cars, and this was the total opposite.
